The Jukebox of wonder is an practical art project by Gregory Cohen the owner of Lofty Pursuits.

It was built from old parts. The screen was a menu screen from Lofty Pursuits. The computer, a raspberry pi drove that screen for years. The wood was left over plywood from another project. The "Visuliser" (the moving round thing on the top) is some ferris magnetic solution in mineral sprits, in a flat bottle over a speaker magnet without the rest of the speaker.

This is a custom built project that is meant to put a smile on your face looking back to older times through modern technology.

The music selection is also to show you music in a way you may not have seen. Most of the music is of the following themes.

there is one rule. The music must be good.

  1. Songs that are related to Lofty: eg. I want Candy, and songs about breakfast

  2. Songs that are covers of songs you know in stiles or with musicians you might not know. eg. Shine by Dolly Parton.

  3. Songs that are actually good mash-ups: eg. Staying alive in the wall

  4. Songs that bring back your childhood: eg songs from the Wiggles as dance mixes, or Love Handle from Phineas and Ferb.

  5. Covers from people you know done seriously, Eg. Weird al - Beat on the brat.

  6. Songs that make you look at music differently. Like a dance beat put to a cattle auction.

  7. Songs by local bands or by Greg's friends bands with the hope they may one day come in and stumble across them. This actually happened in a way we did not expect. The musician who played the music for Phineas and Ferb. came in and was so happy his music was on a jukebox. There is a photo of Greg and him on this page.

If this makes you happy for a quarter, it has done it’s job.
